The program offered residential scholarships to both men and women and was a developmental program aimed at teaching junior players the mental and physical skills necessary to represent Australia and to perform at National League level.
During 2013, the AIS transitioned out of athlete scholarships and sport programs. Responsibility for coaches, athletes and programs was transferred to the principal National Sporting Organisation for basketball at the time.

This page includes athletes who were on AIS scholarship for at least three months consecutively. All reasonable efforts have been made to ensure that the information is accurate and comprehensive.
