Beach Volleyball

Beach volleyball was an Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) scholarship sport from 2005 to 2013.

A National Beach Volleyball Centre of Excellence was an Adelaide based program, established in 2005 as a partnership between the AIS, Australian Volleyball Federation and South Australian Sports Institute.

The key objective of the AIS / AVF Beach Volleyball Program was to expose the development athletes to elite international competitions and to give opportunities for younger athletes to compete on the international stage in the World Youth and World Junior Championships.

During 2013, the AIS transitioned out of athlete scholarships and sport programs. Responsibility for coaches, athletes and programs was transferred to the principal National Sporting Organisation for volleyball at the time.
