Weightlifting
Weightlifting was an Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) scholarship sport from 1981 to 1988.
The Australian Institute of Sport weightlifting program operated from 1981-1988, supporting male athletes, initially in Canberra as a residential program.
In 1985 as part of the AIS decentralisation project, a partnership with the Hawthorn Weightlifting Club in Victoria saw the squad expand to include athletes training at the Melbourne club as well as those in Canberra.
When the program concluded in 1988, responsibility for coaches, athletes and programs was transferred to the principal National Sporting Organisation for weightlifting at the time.

This page includes athletes who were on AIS scholarship for at least three months consecutively. All reasonable efforts have been made to ensure that the information is accurate and comprehensive.
