Primary School Program

Woolworths Cricket Blast

Cricket Australia programs for primary schools use a ‘learn through play’ philosophy and culminate with modified T20 games like a Woolworths Cricket Blast program. These programs are made up of practical cricket activities that focus on fun, fitness and friendships.

Schools benefit from:

• Flexible delivery – 4-6 sessions to suit your needs
• Coach delivered or teacher delivered programs
• Resources – introduce new cricket-themed content to your curriculum

Secondary School Programs

Cricket Australia offers a curriculum aligned, engaging and inclusive programs for secondary school students in Year 7 and 8 that use cricket as the vehicle for promoting movement and physical activity.

Cricket Skills and Games is an exciting teacher or coach delivered program that allows students to learn through movement by using modified games for skill development. The final week of the program consists of modified T20 games which are designed by the students themselves.

All Abilities Cricket Program

The All Abilities Cricket Program is an adapted program designed by Cricket Australia in partnership with Special Olympics Australia, catering for students with intellectual disabilities and autism. Coaches are purposefully trained to deliver in special education environments and to adapt activities to suit the needs of participating students.

With the support of Deaf Sports Australia, we can also facilitate an Active Deaf Kids program through Sporting Schools. To book, simply outline in the comments that you would like an Active Deaf Kids program.

Primary Schools

Primary schools have an option to purchase an equipment kit, costing $450 (not including freight). Each kit consists of:

• 1 x Kit Bag with wheels
• 1 x Size 2 Plastic Bat
• 3 x Size 3 Plastic Bat
• 4 x Size 4 Plastic Bat
• 6 x Stump Sets
• 10 x White Rubber Balls
• 5 x Red Rubber Balls
• 4 x Scorcher Balls
• 2 x Ropes
• 1 x Lanyard and Whistle
• 1 x Coloured Cone Set (16 cones, colours based on state)
• 8 x Grey Cones

Schools are also able to purchase additional items, with our full list of equipment offerings available on the ‘Add-Ons’ section of the Sporting Schools booking platform.

Secondary Schools

• 6 x Stump Sets
• 10 x white rubber balls
• 4 x ropes
• 1 x Coloured Cone Set (16 cones, colours based on state)
• 8 x Grey Cones

Teachers

Teachers can deliver cricket in Sporting Schools by meeting the requirements below:

• Hold a valid state and/or territory teacher registration
• Confirm adequacy of insurance
• Cricket Australia's Sporting Schools Accreditation Course

Coaches

To become a coach and deliver cricket in Sporting Schools please ensure you are working towards the following requirements:

• Be aged 18 years or over
• Hold a current Working With Children Check (validity of no less than 3 months)
• Confirm adequacy of insurance
• Cricket Australia's Sporting Schools Accreditation Course

Coaching Providers

Sporting Schools is an Australia-wide program in partnership with more than 35 national sporting organisations (NSO), of which Cricket Australia is one.

The Cricket Australia coordinates all Sporting Schools programs and does not require external coaching providers. For further information please contact Cricket Australia.

At cricket, we exist to bring people together through play by providing amazing first experiences and a lifelong love of the game. We empower teachers to deliver quality cricket programs in schools through guidance and quality resources to achieve curriculum outcomes with students. Our resources include.

• School Ambassador Program – The program aims to enhance a teacher’s capacity to deliver on curriculum outcomes whilst getting students healthy and active.
• Mascot Challenge (Lower Primary) – A free 4-week program that has kids spending 10 minutes a day developing fundamental movement skills that will lay the foundation for them to lead a healthy and active life.
• Woolworths Cricket Blast Health & PE (Primary/Secondary) – A four-week curriculum aligned program that is fun and exciting for students of all abilities and is simple for teachers to deliver, regardless of their cricket knowledge.
• All Abilities Program   – In partnership with Special Olympics Australia (SOA), this Cricket For All handbook is designed to cater for students of All Abilities. Specifically, this guide ensures to include SOA's tips and recommendation for teaching styles, setting simple rules and utilising equipment in a manner which allows students with special needs to participate freely.
