Rugby Union
Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.
Teachers
Teachers can deliver Get into Rugby Schools, Tri Tag Rugby and Play 7s in the Sporting Schools program by meeting the requirements below.
- Hold a valid state and/or territory teacher registration
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
- Rugby AU SMART Rugby course, opens in a new tab;
- Rugby AU Coaching Kids Rugby course, opens in a new tab; and
- Approval from your state rugby union office.
Coaches
To become a coach and deliver rugby union in Sporting Schools please ensure you are working towards the following requirements:
- Be aged 16 years or over
- Hold a current Working With Children Check
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
- Rugby AU SMART Rugby course, opens in a new tab;
- Rugby AU Coaching Kids Rugby course, opens in a new tab; and
- Approval from your state/territory rugby union office.
Coaching Providers
Rugby Australia coordinates all Sporting Schools programs and bookings and works with each Rugby Union State/Territory body to engage with accredited program deliverers and coaching providers. For further information please contact Rugby Australia or your State/Territory Rugby Union office.
