Remote Sporting Schools originally started as pilot program with select remote and very remote schools.
The acquittal process is now open, to start your acquittal, follow these simple steps:
- Log in to SmartyGrants
- Select 'My Submissions' at the top of page
- Select the ‘Remote Sporting Schools – acquittal and end report’ form

Frequently asked questions
Does my school need to acquit the funding?
Yes, schools must complete an acquittal using the SmartyGrants website at the completion of the Remote Sporting Schools grant activities, in accordance with the terms and conditions. The ASC will use the acquittal to evaluate the grant program and ask you what you liked and didn’t like about the program, and how we could make the program better.
Who could apply for a Remote Sporting Schools pilot?
Invited schools, located in remote areas of NT, Qld, Tas and WA, and listed in the grant guidelines. Grant applications were open between 10 February and 7 March 2025 via SmartyGrants.
How do I change school contact information in SmartyGrants?

How can the Remote grant be spent?
Sporting Schools funding can be used to assist schools to cover the costs of delivering Sporting Schools partner sport programs in line with the Grant Guidelines, Parameters, Spending Fact Sheet and terms and conditions.

When can I spend the Remote grant?
Across Terms 2 and 3 and inclusive of weekends and Term 2 school holidays, 2025, i.e. 14 April – 26 September 2025.

We use the Australian Bureau of Statistics Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia Plus (ARIA+, opens in a new tab).
What sports or physical activities can we choose to deliver?
A list of sports available on the Remote Sporting Schools webpage. Based on community need, consideration will be given to sports/providers not on the list.
