Ultimate Frisbee

Sporting Schools has partnered with the Australian Flying Disc Association to deliver Ultimate Frisbee in schools across Australia.

Give your students a sport they can discover together.

Ultimate is a fast, fun, non-contact team sport with one big difference: there are no referees.

Players are responsible for knowing the rules, making their own calls and resolving disagreements respectfully through Spirit of the Game. https://www.afda.com/what-is-sotg, opens in a new tab

That makes Ultimate more than another physical activity. While students learn to throw, catch, move and work as a team, they are also developing communication, cooperation, decision-making, leadership and conflict-resolution skills. And for many classes, there’s another advantage.

Most students are learning to throw and catch a flying disc from scratch.

Rather than returning to a sport where some students may already have years of experience, Ultimate can give the class a more level starting point. Students learn together, make mistakes together and discover new skills together - giving different students the opportunity to find confidence and success.

Why introduce Ultimate at your school?

A fresh start

A less familiar sport can give more students the opportunity to participate, learn and succeed together.

More than physical skills

Spirit of the Game builds communication, respect, cooperation, reasoning and conflict resolution.

Fast, fun and non-contact

Ultimate combines elements students may recognise from netball, soccer, gridiron and touch footy, but with a flying disc.

Made for schools

Curriculum-mapped programs, structured lesson plans, modified games and support for teachers and coaches.

The manuals themselves describe Ultimate as combining elements of netball, soccer, gridiron and touch footy, which gives teachers an easy reference point when introducing it.
