How to advertise a volunteer role
Get more interest in your volunteer roles by creating punchy advertisements.
Creating catchy advertisements
Advertising specific roles may assist in getting more people involved and finding the most suitable volunteers.
When writing an advertisement, consider first where it will be shared (e.g. Facebook, website, volunteer website etc) and make sure to tailor the content to suit the audience.
Consider:
- A catchy heading
- Keep it short and to the point
- For social media, choose a great image
- Simple language, new volunteers may not know much about your sport or the role
- Outline any key tasks, time needed and necessary skills
- If required include any qualifications, certificates or checks needed
- Showcase how the role is important to the club and what benefits the volunteer will get from the role
- Contact details and how to apply
- Consider phrases such as ‘can you help out?’ or ‘get involved’ versus volunteer
