Child safety
The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is committed to Australian sport environments that are safe, supportive, and friendly for children and other vulnerable people.
The ASC Child Safety Policy outlines our commitment to child safeguarding, and the obligations and responsibilities of our people and stakeholders to protect children.
Schools
Schools should adhere to the Department of Education requirements in their state or territory. All grant recipients are bound by the ASC Child Safety Policy.
Grant recipients must provide evidence to the ASC, on request, of compliance with child safety requirements.
Schools are required to adhere to the Sporting Schools School Terms and Conditions.
Coaches and sporting organisations
All coaches delivering Sporting Schools programs to students must hold a current working with children check and abide by child safe requirements.
It is strongly encouraged that coaches undertake child safeguarding training either through their national sporting organisation or Sport Integrity Australia.
All registered coaches and organisations are required to adhere to the relevant Sporting Schools Terms and Conditions.
