How we'll know we're making a difference

What does success look like?

  • Objectives

Make support easier to find, trust and use

Create clearer and more flexible pathways into volunteering in community sport

Reduce the burden of administering community sport and strengthen club capability

Improve the culture and experience of helping out in community sport

Build a more connected and learning-oriented community sport volunteering system

  • Impacts

More people volunteer in sport and stay involved longer

Volunteers feel safe, respected, supported and valued

Clubs have stronger capability and clearer support pathways

Resources are easier to find, navigate and trust

Community sport better reflects the diversity of local communities

Sport organisations increasingly view volunteering as a strategic priority

The sport system works more effectively around clubs and volunteers

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

To understand whether the Plan is making a difference, a practical monitoring, evaluation and learning approach will be implemented. This approach will be designed to do three things:

  1. Track progress against the actions in this plan, including what has been delivered, who has been involved, and what is changing over time.
  2. Understand impact, including whether the Plan is contributing to better volunteering experiences, stronger club support, and a more connected volunteering system.
  3. Support learning and adaptation, so the Plan can respond to what is working, what is not working, and where the sport system needs to adjust its effort.
