Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.
Who can deliver?
Sporting Schools offers opportunities for sporting organisations, coaches, and teachers to deliver programs to students.

Teachers
To deliver American football as a teacher, you need to meet the requirements below:
- Hold a valid state and/or territory teacher registration
- Be employed at the school
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
Coaches
To deliver American Football as a coach, you need to meet the below requirements:
- Registered in OfficialsHQ as a coach and connected to a provider, SSO or NSO
- Be aged 16 years or over
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (paid check) or relevant exemption
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
- Agree to Coach terms and conditions
To deliver on behalf of American Football Australia coaches need to:
- Be employed by Bring it on Sports and be registered in OfficialsHQ as a coach
- Complete the Community Coaching - Essential Skills Course
Coaching Providers
To deliver American football as a provider organisation, you need to meet the below requirements:
- Registered as a provider in OfficialsHQ
- Hold a valid ABN or declare ABN exempt
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
- Agree to Provider Guidelines and Provider organisation terms and conditions
- Meet safety assessment (as determined by the NSO)
American Football Australia coordinates all Sporting Schools programs through Bring it on Sports and at this stage does not require or endorse other external providers.
NOTE: All coaches that deliver under any provider must be registered and meet coach registration minimum requirements.

Teachers
To deliver sport as a teacher, you need to meet the requirements below:
- Hold a valid state and/or territory teacher registration
- Be employed at the school
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
Registered teachers can deliver Kids’ Athletics and Novo Athletics in Sporting Schools by meeting the following requirements:
- Primary School Programs:
- Kids' Athletics upskilling course
- Or, Run Active accreditation
- Secondary School Program:
- Novo Athletics upskilling course
Teachers can complete these courses by booking in a teacher-delivered package via the Sporting Schools Booking System.
Coaches
To deliver athletics as a coach, you need to meet the below requirements:
- Registered in OfficialsHQ as a coach and connected to a provider, SSO or NSO
- Be aged 16 years or over
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (paid check) or relevant exemption
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
- Agree to Coach terms and conditions
To deliver on behalf of NSO, coaches need to:
- Be connected to an endorsed provider, SSO or NSO in OfficialsHQ
- Primary School Programs:
- Level 1 Community Athletics Coach or above, opens in a new tab
- Kids' Athletics upskilling course (please contact coachaccreditation@athletics.org.au after completion of Level 1 or above course)
- Run Active accreditation
- Secondary School Program:

- Novo Athletics upskilling course (available when allocated a secondary school coaching position)

Sporting Schools is an Australia-wide program in partnership with over 40 national sporting organisations (NSOs), of which Australian Athletics is one. Australian Athletics does not currently endorse provider organisations to deliver on their behalf.

Teachers
To deliver Australian Football as a teacher, you need to meet the requirements below:

Teachers can deliver programs via our teacher-led program and resources. For additional support, teacher may elect to complete the online training modules.
Coaches
To deliver Australian Football as a coach, you need to meet the below requirements:

- Be aged 16 years or over
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (paid check) or relevant exemption

Coaches are all employed by the AFL and have undertaken safeguarding children training and have relevant State or Territory Working with Children Checks.

In locations where Taekwondo Instructors or teachers cannot deliver the program, Australian Taekwondo has developed a Community Coach Accreditation stream. The requirements for this include:

Teachers
Teachers can deliver tennis in Sporting Schools by meeting the requirements below:
- Hold a valid state and/or territory teacher registration
- Are employed as a teacher at the school who have been granted funding
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
Coaches
To become a coach and deliver the Tennis Australia endorsed Sporting Schools program please ensure you are working towards the following requirements:
- Must be a current Tennis Australia Coach Member
- Have completed the Trainee Coaching Course (recommended) or Online Participation Course (minimum)
- Be aged 18 years or over
- Hold a current Working with Children Check
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid Certificate (recommended)
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
- Completion of the Keeping the Tennis Community Safe online tutorial
Alternatively, if you would like to deliver independently of the Tennis Australia endorsed Sporting Schools program, coaches will need to register as their own provider through the Sports Commission directly and arrange their programs separately.
Coaching Providers
Sporting Schools is an Australia-wide program in partnership with over 35 national sporting organisations (NSOs), of which Tennis Australia is one.

Sporting organisations who wish to become a coaching provider for Volleyball Australia and deliver in Sporting Schools must meet the requirements below:
- Hold a valid ABN or declare ABN exempt
- Confirm adequacy of insurance
- Sign a Sporting Schools Spikezone agreement with Volleyball Australia and your State Office
- Adopt and adhere to the philosophy and delivery of the Spikezone product
